Ta Pete Well i got her buttoned up and this was a bit of a challenge i have to say, might be my lack of wingy knowledge or it just wanted a plain `ol simple fight.......i suspect both , anyway it is what it is so here we are Getting the pit in took a bit of jiggling but went together ok in the end, the suspension legs were a feckin` blast..........especially when i had to insert the fuel tank sides/landing gear doors in-between the suspension arms!!!!!!!..........never in a million years were they gonna fit in there!! ........more jiggling and fettling and a few naughty words later i was winning......so i thought!!, the top fuselage cover then decided it was gonna have it`s turn to throw a tantrum ..........a few smacked legs later and i was back as the boss , the cowl is just dry fit and the donk is WIP ..........it`s cost me a coupla unnecessary hours with all the feckin` about but hopefully i can sort somat outta this

Now i remember why i don`t do wingies very often
Cheers y`all

Bloody fantastic job Boots If you have a seem line along the join of the fuselage halves, then don't try to sand it down. Use one of these curved scalpel blades first to scrape the worst away . This is better than a straight blade, you'll only have contact on a very small area which is ideal for wingy seems. Then after scraping you can sand for the finer finish .

Forgot to say that you obviously need to use the curved part

It took me a while to work out that the straight blades cause more grief than help . These rounded ones really do have there benefits after all

Boots, looks awesome and what you experienced is about normal for this kit. The mating of the parts is very tricky with very small tolerances as far as space goes. Great job getting it together.

Ian

You're doing exceptionally despite not working on planes much. Looks like you got this one beat. Bring it home man!

Personally Boots, I think you are already qualified to build that Lancaster. I'm anxiously awaiting it's start.

Ok......whilst waiting for some bits to dry on the RR i had a dabble with `Stumpy`, added the carb intake and a dry fit of the cowl plus the main wheel mounts fixed..........the engine has now had the etch ignition leads added and painted in Dark Brown......i still need to add the remaining ignition ring yet but thats just drying in Black The rear stabilizers and braces have been fixed in place and the upper gun sight......you`ll see i have started to mask up the canopy using Tam tape and a sharp knife (couldn`t be bothered to pays for a mask set.....not for somat this size!!.........the Lanc however was different ). I now have a major issue regarding the gun sight and front canopy........the canopy should have a small groove in it to sit over the tubular sight....it hasn`t , i can`t risk drilling it as it is right on the edge and i don`t want to shatter the plastic....or melt it, also filing it is a no no as well as i have nothing suitably small enough to shape the groove .......my only possible option is to very carefully cut the sight where it touches the front of the canopy and then attach the cut out part on the inside to give the illusion of it going thru!!

Thanks all

Awesome Boots . Your plan for the gun sight sounds good, and with your skills this should pay off
