Over the last few days I've been experimenting with the weathering pencils I have on the model. My conclusion is that although they work pretty well the effects are really subtle and actually take longer than my usual methods. I'll try them on other models later but don't think they will be of any benefit to my style of modelling. 

Anyway I've now progressed to the mud stages and have started adding the basic mud on the tracks and hull using some wilder dark brown textured earth. This stuff is dead easy to use applying with an old brush and it cleans up with water too. Once the basic mud build up is on I'll finish off with pigments to give it a bit more texture and colour variation. 

Cheers Paul, yes the wilder mud is quickly becoming a favorite of mine. Talking of which all the mud build up has now been done and I've thinned the mud with water  as well to add some runs in it. Tracks are also now fitted so pigments should be on the cards soon. As you can see the texture of the mud is very realistic.

That is a fine looking build and that is a great level of realism with the mud application!!
