Okay chaps, I seam to have started a right rant here. The idea behind the pre-shade was an experiment, I am sure not going to be dictated to by the so called big names in this game, who say "you must......." I just wanted to give it a go and see if I like it. Apart from that, this is going to be a straight dunkelgelb paint job, so I need somewhere to help start the weathering process. The paint job stays as I am still playing with this, and by the end I doubt nobody will notice anyway. Anywway I'm back on track with the KT, new zimm in place and dunkelgelb re-installed .

Wouts sometimes I think I am a jinx, no matter how careful I am something always goes wrong. To be honest it really gets me down. No matter which kit I build I seam to find problems, even the simplest of kits. Rant over. I'll stick with it, and find a way to solve this, even if the end result is only internet show-able . Paul, you just described me... only my situation is far worse. Everything I do has five or six things go wrong all the time and most times I have no way to fix it. Still, I commend you for sticking with it. Your second results look magnificent.
Bill, I agree with you about Mig and AK. etc. I don't ever buy any of their products. I once had a chance to try Mig weathering agents through a loan program from my AMPS club, but found they don't work on 1/72 scale. His stuff is geared toward the larger scales. Regardless, I try to find the cheapest and simplest alternatives to get the same results. As for modulating my colors; it does help in my small scale, especially when it's done very subtly. Unfortunately, I'm not always as subtle as I want to be; I'm still practicing.
Paul, keep plugging man, it looks like you got this now. I still think it'll be a gong magnet when you are done, as all your work is.
Looking forward to seeing more.

If I walked down the street and asked 25 different people to paint The Mona Lisa, I would end up with 25 different looking Mona Lisas. That, my friends, is the beauty of this hobby. Paul, looking forward to this Tiger.

Ian

Hi chaps, today I started to play around with the Dunkelgelb . I lightened the base colour twice and as far as I am concerned, that is as far as I go with the modulation game. It certainly isn't over the top, in fact it's quite hard to see in the pics, it's just enough to give a good starting point for the weathering . I also got the tracks painted up, first off was a custom grey mix of Tamiya paints, then a diluted rusty colour and finally a quick wash with AK track wash. Next will be pigments and then they go into place .

Thanks chaps , and sorry for the late reply . I have dusted this one off and now added the white areas to the chipped off zimmerit . Years ago I added a red oxide or steel colour to the chipped zimmerit areas, this is wrong. The zimmerit caused a chemical reaction to anything underneath it, which turned the surface white. As pure white was a tad to bright I used Vallejo 71.270 which is a dirty or ivory white colour, this should tone down well when I add wash or two to the vehicle . Tomorrow will get a gloss coat and I'll start moving forwards with the weathering
