Thank you! Yes, this is a big airplane and I will need some shelf space for this one.
Best wishes,
Ian

I worked on the Nimrod and it has been interesting, so far. I got the flight deck installed in the fuselage as well as the nose gear well. The nose gear well is a hot mess since the top of the well is covered with slots, punch marks and zero detail. Unlike the cockpit, the gear well will be fairly visible so I scratchbuilt a roof for the gear well with some makeshift detail on it to brighten things up a little. Next were the fuselage windows and the bubble windows fit fine. However, the flat regular fuselage windows fit so poorly I wasn't even sure they were for the Nimrod. To circumvent that mess, I am going to forego the kit windows and apply Micro Kristal Klear towards the end of construction as that will look better and be much easier. I then moved on to the fuselage and this got interesting as well. During the test fit the fuselage had an average fit but when I went to CA it, something must have slipped and I ended up with a large gap on the upper fuselage. Initially I started cussing but then I test fit the windscreen piece and it would have been too wide if the fuselage fit normally so with the gap (which I will shim) the windscreen actually lines up with the fuselage so I guess you could say two wrongs did in fact make a right. I will let the adhesive set up on the fuselage and move on to the wings next. Regards, Ian

Sounds like a little battle going on here, I reckon you have the upper hand though Ian . What did you use for the conduit in the last two pics? (The flexi-style one)

Thanks, Paul. That came from the spares box and is a piece of lower-E guitar string which will be around .040-.042 range.

Marco, Boots..thanks for stopping in. Minor update on the Nimrod as I got the fuselage doors installed along with the rudder and MAD boom. Several articles said the MAD boom did not fit as it was supposed to but I found out if you turn it 45 degrees the alignment is much better so not sure if there is an instruction or part issue there (kit was cast by Trumpeter). I also started work on the spine seam and got the forward shim installed which was made from sheet stock. Although entirely accidental, now you can see the windscreen lines up since the fuselage has been stretched out. If the fuselage fit had not been so bad the clear part actually would not have fit without the shim so it all actually worked out. So I will get the fuselage sanded and blended before I move on to the wings. Regards, Ian
