Not sure what I’ve let myself in for with this as it was going to be a quick no fuss build Here is the victim candidate for tinker-fication

I decided I wanted to add photoetch grills and maybe a couple of other tweaks. So set about tracking something down, I found one set specifically for this kit but no sellers. Not wanting to be beaten I looked about and stumbled upon this set...£17 delivered. I thought why not
Ok, this set is not for the zvezda kit, but look what you get in the set......shiny stuff galore
Some work has commenced and I managed to clean up the wheels and some of the bigger parts. Cut out the moulded in deck screens and now waiting for a reference book before I go any further.....
How did that happen  Oh well.....wish me luck

I've built the Zvezda t34-85 kit OOB and it's not as bad as you'd think. I'm interested to see you sparkle it up with that PE.

Cheers chaps, Great to have you all along for the ride I’ve been busy researching this particular T34 version with the help of a helpful bunch on FB and found out that it should only have the rear mounted fuel cells and not both types as shown on the PE box. There are no fenders in the PE set either so not quite as much PE as I thought. I can use whatever PE is left on the other T34’s I have in the stash B) There may be a bit of a delay on this as I will be contributing to a memorial GB for a highly respected member from the old MM site who sadly passed away a few weeks ago. Once I’ve decided on what I’ll be building I’ll probably blog it here for you guys too cheers Si

It was Simon T. A fantastic scratch builder and a true gent. Shit me, that’s sad to hear. I’m going to take this Tamiya Panther but as it’s a bit too wide so I’ll saw it in half. The one I really remember is the kit with the blood all over it due to a little knife accident.

There was more than one blood incident I lost count at the amount of kits he would hack up and rebuilt, he chopped a StuG into quarters once and rebuilt the bugger and almost all the detail ....what that bloke could do with plastic card was truly inspiring. I quite often spoke with him through email and PM and I know he had in excess of 500 kits of all types and scales. Would of liked to of met him personally as he came across as a really kind, helpful guy......one of the good ones...and although I never met him I was totally gutted to hear he had died at only 54!

Making all the track pin heads for a 1/72 scale tank, yep he did that. How many kits did he ever actually finish, in my time a MilMod I think one.
