Read some threads and seen some YouTube vids so that makes me an expert! NOT. I’ve got a couple of spare heads at 1/35 to play around with. First attempt was a disaster, but this time, not too shabby. I’m using Vallejo skin tones set. What do you think? Any advice, no matter what will be gratefully received, because I’m getting the hump!

With a glass of port and some mixed nuts, I ended up with this. The port definitely helped.

Nice mate, figure painting and especially flesh painting is just a matter of practice. I used to paint flesh areas with oils and had a pretty good method but then moved to acrylics and had to learn a new set of methods to get results I was happy with. The trick with acrylics is to build the effects up over a few or a lot of layers depending on what you want to achieve.

Thanks for the advice, everyone. It’s fun to play around with the different colours. There sitting in a bath of thinner and I’ll have another bash later.

I second what snipersmudge said about thinning the paint and building it up in thin layers. With the thinner paint it allows you to get a smoother colour transition and no obvious colour change.
That has been my experience with the larger busts. It will be interesting to see how that translates into the 1/35 figures I recently purchased for my Tiger build.
Also, do you use a wet palette? I found that when I switched to one for acrylics and the use of some retarder medium kept the paint workable for much longer.
Cheers
Mark

Yes, mate. The wet pallets works a treat.

He’s developed a lot of character after a pin wash. Needs a bit more cleaning up but... Not too shabby!!!
