Thanks Paul and snipersmudge. After a varnish I used a very little bit of panel line black for the shadows. Once dried I put on some Tamiya figure accent colour to lessen the contrast. What do you think?
Looks good, does it not?

Thanks Ian. Finished off my next chap to go with the recoilless gun and motorbike. Not bothering with the dispatch rider, though. I made the map case out of the supplied map in the kit (barely legible as it was) and some masking tape, folded over, varnished and painted. Not too shabby!!!!

My next 3 guys coming down the line are 1/48 zero pilot and officer and driver from the Kurogane. Despite the age of the zero kit, the figure is of A good quality but you can easily compare the difference between the old and new kits. mixed khaki and buff at 2:1 ratio for the Japanese uniforms and then dry brushed with buff. The officer looks very resplendent. Will give a Matt coat and then a touch more depth to the uniforms and they should be done,

I saw a similar tip to this on YouTube for when you have gaps between joints. Use a blade and scrape away some thin strands from the sprue. Then use your cement brush to pick up the strands and place them in the gap. The glue melts the strands in place. Once dry you just need a quick sanding and you have filled the gap.
