Bronco A34 Comet Finished 1/3/21

Cheers chaps, today's progress now and work on the turret. First though I removed the two plates on the rear hull as my decal choice did not have them fitted. A simple task & a bit of mr surfacer tidys the area up. The turret firstly had some weld lines added around the resin mantlet using magic sculpt then various weld beads where added using stretched sprue. Mr surfacer again for texture and some spare track holders also made up. The gun barrel needed a fair bit of work as it was warped, must be because it was on the same sprue as the upper hull. The hole in the mantlet still needs to be drilled but that will be done once I find a 4mm drill bit.

You're making a fabulous Comet. It looks very complete with all the personal touches. I find this Comet one of the coolest WW2 tanks, kind of a muscular Cromwell.

Cheers guys, Paul, I did think about a metal barrel but just went with the kit one after shelling out for tracks. Guy, I agree it is a very cool looking tank and one of my favs too. Well the turret is now all finished apart from drilling out the mantlet for the barrel. Some tricky etch to deal with in the form of the antenna mount and bird cage sight. The antenna assembly was made up using the kits etch cage and sections of brass tube. I found the etch quite springy so heated it with a lighter which  made it easier to bend. The cage sight was tricky with lots of little bends and tiny areas to glue but I got there in the end!  

With that done I moved onto crew figures and started with the mini art ones. Not too impressed with them to be honest, loads of flash and cleanup plus poor fit. I originally wanted two figures in the turret but none of the others would fit the loaders hatch without major surgery and even then did not look right so I went for just the commander in the end. I'll use an old figure with a new head for the driver in the hull though. Final bits still to sort are the tow ropes and stowage before it gets primed.

Well and truly phenomenal. Is it me or do you have Norman Wisden in the commanders hatch?
Either way, I think someone’s just told him a dirty joke on the intercom.

The figure looks very realistic in that position.

Cheers mates, well the build is now done with the tow rope & barrel sorted and some stowage as well. I'll add some camo netting next before washing & primer. With the barrel in place it really does look the part & must be my favorite looking WW2 tank.
