Tamiya 1/48th T55 I wanted a straight forward and fast build (for me anyway). So I thought, what could be nicer than a, Tamiya 1/48th T-55 straight out of the box. I hope to get this one finished before the end of the month. 🤞 www.missing-lynx.com/reviews/48/tamiya32598reviewbg_1.htmlAbove is a link to missing-lynx with a what's in the box review. Below is a link to the Tamiya instructions www.1999.co.jp/eng/image/10681023I intend to make a start today, even if it's just a coat of primer on the wheels and tracks.

If it's half as good as it's 1/35th big brother you are in for a treat. Looking forward to this.

It will be a quick and pleasant build, no doubt about that.

Cheers Paul, Pete, Tommy & Marco.. Glad you approve. I intended to prime just the wheels and tracks, but as it was all going rather swimmingly, I thought I'd carry on and prime the rest of the parts. I used Mig one shot grey primer, which I've used before. It was when I cleaned out the airbrush I noticed it had started to set in the cup. When I dismantled my airbrush, I found it had done the same in the fluid nozzle and nozzle cap. Strange as it was spraying ok right up until I finished. I always clean any airbrush out immediately , so it was not as though I'd left it for any length of time. It could have been because I'd spent a lot longer spraying with this primer than previous. Next time I won't push my luck and keep the session shorter. Other than that, all is good. I can start assembling it tomorrow, or paint the wheels ready for masking.

Primer directly on the sprues... You'll use liquid cement or CA?
Nice work so far!

Hi Joe, Interested to see this one.... I keep picking this one up at my local hobby shop then talking myself out of it Not seen a kit painted on the sprue before, does it effect the glue at all?

Thank you Marco, Ian, & Si. muchly appreciated. Si,Most of the time, I can avoid the join lines so the paint is not a problem. If I do get paint on them, I go over them very lightly with a scraper. Marco, The photo shows the main glues I use. The nozzle cleaner is for when the nozzle on the Revell glue gets blocked. The canopy glue is strong enough to hold small parts in place, but doesn't harm the paint. I also use it for etched parts. About the only time I use super glue is for EZ Line rigging. I've started will the lower hull. This comes in a flat pack with a bottom, two sides, and a frame in the middle. The two weights are attached to the floor of the hull. I meant to weigh them before putting them in place, but forgot. I was wondering what a 1/48th T-55 would be weigh in 1/48th scale weight? The only maths I really practiced was to make sure my overtime was paid at the correct rates!

A little more progress today. I painted the wheels and tracks. The hull has also had a lick of paint. I've stamped out all the wheel mask so next job will be to mask the wheels and paint them rubber black. Also, a couple more bits and pieces have been glued together.
