Looking good Tommy. Don't worry if you loose the panel lines, you can always replace them with a Tamiya plastic scriber.

Thanks guys. Sprayed with AS 29 as per the instructions. Not sure it’s the right colour though. Far more green than you can see in this picture.

Looks great, Tommy! That AS-29 color should be fine. That's the spray can version of XF-76 isn't it? Should almost look like RAF Sky Type S with a greenish tint.

That’s right. Though in one part of the instructions it says early models were painted light grey!!!

That’s right. Though in one part of the instructions it says early models were painted light grey!!! That Grey-Green should be right. The info about the light grey was probably out dated. Ran into the same problem with the Ki-100. For years they thought they were Dark Green and come to find out they were Olive Drab. If I am not mistaken, Tamiya based that grey-green off a paint chip recovered from an actual early A6M.

Ian. Thanks a lot. It’s strange how no oneknew the colour.
Even stranger that ameiro飴色 is actually amber in English.

Some of those color translations are interesting. The Olive Drab color for the Ki-100 translated into "yellow", one of the references said.

Thanks guys. Supposed to paint this metallic blue, but didn’t have any so went with metallic grey and good old Tamiya panel line black. I think you will like the results.

The decals are on and the colour is looking good. Going with the model from Celebes island. Given it a spray with Mr Hobby semi gloss. Will start with a pin wash tomorrow.

Maybe I'm belated, but to solve the problem of metallic blue you could apply some clear blue paint over the silver or aluminium color.
