That's a beauty! Love the contrast with the raw, oxidized metal and the Dark Yellow.

Great looking Dunkelgelb Wouter. The lemony yellow in the mixture turns it into a vivid colour.

I'm so glad that not only I plays around with Tamiya colours, for different Dunkelgelb effects . It's looking mighty good in that shade Wouts , bring on the camo fella oh no, it's a dark art, isn't it And bring on the camo? Well, I got you covered there. This morning I sprayed the camouflage freehand. I chose for a late war (although in fact already discontinued by 1945) Licht und Schatten (light and shadow - more commonly known as ambush) camouflage. First I outlined the camouflage pattern in pencil and then the first color was sprayed. I made my own mix for the Schokoladebraun (chocolate brown, never understood why everyone speaks of red brown or even red oxide color). The red was mixed out of Tamiya XF Red Brown, X-9 Brown and a part of my homemade DY mix). I had some trouble with airbrushing these colors, especially on the Dark Yellow base the brown was very splattery. The OlivGrün (olive green) was mixed out of Tamiya XF-67 Nato Green, Gunze H-26 Bright Green, Tamiya X-8 Lemon Yellow and also a small part of the DY mix. I think the main reason why the camouflage colors turned out to be difficult to spray is that I forgot to add some X-22 clear in the mix. But in the end I'm quite happy how it looks: With the turret attached it looks like this: (I also painted some of the wheels in the camo colors btw) I'm not sure what to do with the turret though. I think it looks good in combo like this, but pretty much everyone doing what if tanks do the turret or in DY or in red oxide primer. I want something different. I might add a different kind of camouflage. After that I painted the DY dots on the olive green and chocolate brown and the olive green dots on the dark yellow patches. These where just the Tamiya/Gunze colors I used, but this time applied by brush. Worked out a treat: And that's how she stands today. Time to reflect on the turret

Very nice colour mixes indeed my friend . I agree with the different look to the turret, it would give it that "rushed into service look". But a different camouflage would also be good, following along the lines of turret made by Krupp and the hull made by MNH

Thanks a lot chaps. I don't know too much about the Panthers, but the camouflage scheme I used is based on the Daimbler-Benz camouflage pattern . Coming to think of it, I forgot which company made steel wheeled version ...then again, this one is what if, so let's imagine Audi made it

Wouts, your camo application is superb! I really like the mono-chromatic yellow turret on the ambush scheme hull. I think it makes for a nice contrast on the tank.

Thanks chaps. Ian...mmm...I sure agree that the monochromatic turret on the camouflaged can be sexy. However...too late So, I've been looking on the internet for some interesting camouflage schemes for the turret and in the end I decided to base it on a camouflage scheme used by the MAN factory. So basically we got a Daimler-Benz-MAN Panther F now I ordered a week ago a color which I lacked for the camouflage scheme for my Messerschmitt, and with the order I also ordered airbrush masking putty. Turns out I must have some Sixth Sense or so since I apparantly felt the blu tack disaster coming lol. So, initially I wanted to mask the turret with blu tack rolls to mask the DY parts, but instead I decided to try the masking putty. And boy is that magical stuff! Removes easily and leaves nothing behind, not even some residue. Happy bunny here. So basically I used slightly different colors for the camo to set it apart from the hull a bit, though the differences aren't too extreme. I used Tamiya Red Brown with a Tad of my DY mix and Nato Green. The roof was painted plain with the Nato Green. And let's fit that turret on the hull and mate it with the gun barrel to see if it starts to look like a tank Looks like a tank alright

Yep, that’s a tank. Masking putty is the bees knees but you need to put it in the fridge in summer to harden up a bit.
