With the M109 done and the F-4B in the home stretch I wanted to start a new project. I want to do a straight forward prop project so I am breaking open the Academy P-47N which I plan to depict as a Hawaiian National Guard P/F-47N which they flew up until 1954, hence the Cold War thread. I haven't decided which scheme I want to go with yet, though. I always loved the P-47 as you really have to respect a 22,000 lb prop fighter (fully loaded)

That's a good kit, I built that many, many years ago. The fit of the parts was exceptional back then, which
lead me into the dark-side, unfortunately the aircraft I went for after that weren't so good.

Robbo, Paul, Marco--thanks, guys! Yes, appears to be a very nice kit. Actually ordered the Wolfpack Productions P-47D this morning which is Academy plastic with PE and resin, along with the Brazilian decals.

I have started the P-47N and began with the front office. I read that the post war -47s had their cockpits refinished in black so I went with that and did a post shade with MIG RLM66. I then painted all the small details with Vallejo Winter White. The instrument disks were also painted Vallejo Winter White and then hit with a heavy wash of Ivory Black Oil diluted with Mineral Spirits.

Thanks, Marco! I finished the major internal assemblies. The cockpit tub is completed as well as the mighty P@W R2800 radial. I also painted the cowling intake and gave it a wash as well.

Thank you, Tommy! I got the cockpit and engine mounted and then closed up the fuselage and added the wings and stabs. Totally trouble free assembly and went together really well. This is what 22,000 lbs of justice looks like.

I just have a little bit of seam work to do and it will be primer time.
