Starting to get a bit impatient, so made some dry fitting before the final paint work and assembly.

That's some excellent detailing with some very small parts.

Karih I'm pretty sure you're skilled enough to tackle the Musashi. This one looks awesome! I have the Flyhawk Bismarck in 1:700 scale and I haven't got a clue how to successfully wrestle myself tru that one, not being a ship builder.

Now I am really embarrased ! Made a real rookie error: as I have told you, I had some serious problems with my airbrushing. Tried several different mix ratios, various pressures and different paint brands and nothing seemed to help. I even considered buying a new brush. Well, I decided to to clean the air brush again and while I was reassembling it, the Needle chucking nut fell off. Then I realized that that was the problem. It has been loose: so when I pulled the lever, nothing happened. The needle was not moving => no paint! OK, now it is working and paint work is progressing fine. I guess the old saying is valid: you learn through mistakes... !

Me too. Now I've gotten in the habit of checking it almost every time I start to airbrush. Given that, I still forget sometimes....

Beautiful work on this! Awesome work with the photo etch and she is shaping up beautifully. And yes, we have all lost airbrush parts. I have sent many springs and gaskets into the abyss, never to be seen again.

An update with airbrushing. I got a tip to polish the needle and after that it works clearly better. However, I was told that these cheap airbrushes very often struggle with acrylics, so probably I need to purchase a higher quality one.

Yeah, I think it is a matter of luck more than anything. But what do I know? Only ever had one AB!!!!

Kari I use the Fengda, Greenstuff World airbrushes, these are certainly cheapo AB's. But, I do clean them thoroughly after spraying, I never just spray a cleaning agent through, I take them apart. With that I have never had any issues, except needing new seals every two years or so.
