Tine t to start something 100% new as after four shelf queen finishings I like to build a kit and that's what I did last weekend...like mad. I'm building an Ausf. D Early with a D2 turret. This is why I had to add an ammo loader's hatch in the left side, and three firing ports for small arms. The hatch was completed with Zimmerit according to the rest of the tank.

Blitzbuild? How long are you expecting it to take?
And, I thought you were going to do a Spitfire next!

Completely forgot to answer your question Paul, yes it's a Dragon kit I had in my humble stash. I won't purchase Dragon in the future, they first need to sort out their rubbish instruction manuals.

Now continue this beauty you sneaky 'bastardo' The Zim looks just awesome Wouts. But why does this kit come with decals of the 232 (Wehrmacht), it's not the appropriate type of Zimmerit as it should be the vertical one?

mmm...guess that depends on what factory this one left (don't know too much about the early Panthers)...Is it the one with the 'black' 232 of an unidentified unit? I wouldn't worry too much, seems Dragon didn't really know themselves Anyway, zimmerit is a bit of a can of worms, same as shades of paint I reckon

If you mean Joachim Peipers Panther, then the zimmerit should be vertical. You would also need to add a few things to it. There were some raised wooden stowage boxes over the rear cooling grilles and a frame on the turret, to hold the commanders hatch horizontal when open. If you google Joachim Peiper Panther, it'll show you quite a few images

No addies my good laddies. The 232 also had a pretty rare snorkel thing added to the rear deck and, indeed, raised stowage boxes and a frame welded onto the left side of the turret to support the commander's hatch.
I'm not going to use the kit decals Btw, I'll see what fits the model.
Paul, thank you for the helping hand, Wouts ditto brotha.

Love a Panther. I still reckon this is one of the best looking tanks of WWII

Joe, I'll do my best. Steve, be my guest my good chap. Ian, it's the sexiest one of WW2. The smoke dischargers were given some stretched sprue wiring and three smoke charges.
