Next project is the AFV Club Scimitar with quite a few update sets from Scorpion models. My plan is to build a 2000's version so to that end I have the following sets to play with, LEP hull conversion, Scimitar bowman radio set, replacement turret, BGTI sights, kinetic ropes and Friulmodel late tracks, phew! The plan is to make the ultimate late scimitar although I may change the sights on the turret for the espire versions that way the crew can be painted in good old DPM! So expect some surgery later on today as the first job is replacing the front upper hull!

Looking forward to seeing this one progress, Pete. There's a few old Scimitars just up the road from where I'm staying.

Cheers chaps, well I've now been working on the tracks and boy are they fiddly! Each link is very small but I've got one run sorted. By the way I've glued the road wheels and rear idler in place as the fitting is not that positive. The sprocket has not been glued to ease fitting of tracks. Once the run had been made up and upon fitting I found that the upper section was very taunt so added one more link. This made the tracks too loose! As the rear idlers are not adjustable I had to think outside the box for a solution. I came up with adding a couple of wooden blocks to the tracks and leaving overnight. This stretched the tracks just enough to get the proper sag on the upper section. Even with this issue the tracks look fabulous and have far better detail than the kit rubber band tracks. Now one more run to do then I have a load of bolts to add to the tracks as well!

I had exactly the same thing on my Scorpion Pete. I winged it, and put the extra sag at the bottom of the drive sprocket, that way it looks like the driver is steering to the left
