Tracks can really test your patience sometimes but looks like Tamiya came up trumps with those, looking sweet

Tamiya tracks are great these days. I do think Tamiya have got it right selling what is a premium product balanced against their target market of easy to build kits.

So a bit more progress. The tracks are now on although I’m not yet entirely happy with the weathering. There is a bit of a gap at the front but the good thing is I’ll already thought if that happens that’s going to be hidden anyway. It doesn’t help that my CA seems to have gone a bit off so I think I need a new one.

Smart work Jase, and that minimal gap won't be seen later

Smart work Jase, and that minimal gap won't be seen later With a little bit of fiddling, CA and pressure it would be fairly simply to sort out but I thought, there’s mud guards that go over it so why bother. If it had full length side skirts it wouldn’t even have the top length of track on it!

Hopefully I should have everything ready for a base coat tomorrow although there’s a slight change of plan after dry fitting the top length of the mud guard. Boy are they already tight so they are going on straight away and not primed beforehand. There’s also going to be a little delay as I need to go out on Friday and get a new needle for my AB.

Well it’s looking like a Comet now. Lovely kit so far.

Looks great, and is it just my imagination or does that turret look a bit like a Centurion turret? Was that developed after the Comet?

No expert but I believe they were both developed at roughly the same time (the Cent. was later) with the Comet been seen more as a stop-gap. It does look as though there was elements of cross over in their design.
