That green mix does look rather swish Jase Well obviously I did a lot of research into the subject to ensure that Mike Starmer was historically accurate with his Tamiya mixes. What I did not do was look at the paints I had and think I must have stocked up on Olive Green when I already had half a jar left and that Dark Green that I hardly ever use will come in handy.

Done the highlights, added the tools and the extra painting. The canvas mantle looks a strange colour to me but that was the mix given. The only bits to add are the towing cables (makes weathering more tricky), and the tow hooks/wing mirror (too much opportunity to knock them off). I’ll leave everything to dry overnight and then give it a coat of Klear.

It goes by "Pledge: Revive It", still from the Johnson Company. I get it from Amazon now, and it is still my go-to for Gloss Varnish and canopy dipping, after all these years.

I did come across that name but another one that doesn’t seem to be available in the U.K. The hunt continues. I have got something called Weimar Hardwood Polish & Restorer (I got it for our floor) which seems similar but I haven’t tried it out yet.

Thanks Steve, looking around, B&Q stock it at £15 so I’ll probably go with that. I could probably find something that does the job a lot cheaper but considering how long it lasts I’d rather just go for something I know works. I did think about trying the one I have on the Comet but that was really a last resort as I might of ended up in a certain creek without a paddle. It’s the same reason I stick with Tamiya XF-20A, yes I’ve seen how to make your own but I know the Tamiya works and do I actually need a few litres of thinner.

We should have an almost hole in the wallet thread. I went down to B&Q (I also wanted to go to Hobbycraft) to get this but the traffic was just awful so I gave up and went back home. On better news Klear coat dryed and I’ve started on the pinwashes and general grime. Onwards and upwards or something like that.

The reason I like Klear (or equivalent) is the I can just slap it on with a large brush and not have to worry about the get the AB ready and then do the extra step of cleaning it!

Same here but whilst it`s harder to get a suitable replacement the Vallejo for me is a good alternative until something else turns up that i`m happy with.

Well I’ll tell you how I get on with Steve M’s recommendation. If it works then I’ll take the glory for myself, if it doesn’t then it’s their fault. A win-win for me

Brushed on gloss? Never gave that a thought. Gonna have to give it a run. I discovered it several years ago after I missed a few spots with the AB and thought I’ll just touch them up with a brush. Klear is just so thin you don’t have any worries about brush marks. What you do have more worries with is don’t get the brush too loaded as it does pool.
