Glad to hear you're having a good time with this build Kari. It's pretty tough to beat an Eduard wingy.

Kari, fantastic start on the interior. In answer to your question, I discovered A6M flap color to be a research "black hole." However, after further digging I found reference photos for an original flap on an A6M3 and it is the blue lacquer color. Photo attached and it is #6.6 on the thread. j-aircraft.com/research/ryan6-0.htm

Thanks all for your comments! Special thanks to Ian for this invaluable information, although life got just a bit more complicated ! When you start thinking of all those hundreds of detail, you will never finish the model. But, I am glad that the colour for the flaps was aotake, because that is such a nice colour which will give the plane a little extra touch.

It shows you're having a blast with this kit Kari, mindblowing details in that office. Man that pilot seat looks killer!

Eduard did an incredible job with their 1/48th Spitfire interiors and an equally amazing job on the A6M cockpits. They include so much detail.

These Eduard kits are a treat and your making a great job of it mate.
One of the best things about MHO is the way that so much information is given so freely and there's never a lecture from an armchair warrior.

And fun continues...
Managed to put together the office and WOW: it is truly impressive stuff from Eduard! All those fine details in 1/48. In the old days you would need to have 1/32 plane to get the same level.
Tried to put some weathering, but it is difficult to get subtle in this small scale. The link that Ian gave, suggested that the cockpit had an aotake colour underneath the actual gteen cockpit finish, so I tried to create that. A little bit like maestro Wouter did with red primer on the exterior surfaces.

Oh my! Amazing looking interior! I thought it was interesting how these only had one shoulder strap. My Type 21 build was the same configuration.

Some small progress with Zero. Eduard kit has a nice engine which becomes a real treat with those extra PE bits (plug leads). Painted the engine black and added some wear with Mr Color Super Chrome Silver (finer stuff that Tami's XF-16 Flat Aluminium). Needs some more AK Int Engine grime and then it is done. Shame that the engine does not show much...
Finally, managed to glue the wings and the fuselage together. There was a strange misfit with the fuselage and the upper wing surface, so I will need to use some filler to fix that. Otherwise the fit was perfect.
