It's looking very good Paul !! When the fuselage clicks together with no fuss... it's always a mix feeling of relief and happiness ..

John, Cheers muchly my friend . Tuesday I decided to have a look at how my arch enemy (in aircraft modelling) the canopy fits. It doesn't . The kit gives you the option for open or closed canopy, I chose the closed one. Next time I use the open one. The problems I need to correct are: The rounded top of the seat is too high. The hood/cover in front of IP needs moving rearwards up against the IP. The insert for the sight also needs widening, which is the reason why it doesn't fit to correct place. The IP needs sanding as this is also too high.

That’s a bummer, Paul. Fitting transparencies can be a real pain sometimes.

Oh ! Damn... that's a lot of work.. The rounded top, do you think with sanding it , it will fit or you need to remove it ? When I start sanding to fit things, usually something goes off or brakes all together. Yesterday fitting the turret of the E-75... the metal gun barrel just broke from the plastic holding cover... more cleaning up and more CA Glue...Oh well.. I know your frustration and pain my friend

How is it possible that they engineered it so poorly? This is torture for modellers. Take your time my friend, you can do it.

How is it possible that they engineered it so poorly? This is torture for modellers. Take your time my friend, you can do it. Unfortunately, most jet kits are designed for canopy up/open. And even if it is designed for canopy down, the fit always seems to be hit and miss. Kind of like the intake trunks on jets......usually have to cover up those terrible intake seams.

Thank you kindly fellas . It is as Ian said, the closed option is a tricky one to do. That is also the reason why I usually leave them open like on the Corsair and the Kfir I did a few years ago. Anyway I think I have beaten it into submission. The kit reflex gun-sight is way out of proportion, so I used a piece of laminated clear plastic for that. Then it was time to add the two canopy parts. I clamped these in place with rubber band , I thought this would be the safest way of holding the canopy down, until the Revell Contacta Clear had set . After a quick spray with the interior colour, I could see a few areas that needed attention. The left hand side of the canopy rear needed sanding down and there was the call for a little filler here and there. Tomorrow will get a re-spray and another check over. The rest of the wing parts have also been added and the antenna atop also. I still have some bits to add, but the the time for primer is defo getting closer now .

Cheers muchly Joe . I'm treating this one as a learning curve now. Now that know where the faults are, I think I might just get another one at some point

Yep-----beautiful work getting the canopy streamlined and in place! And yes, gunsights and HUDs always end up being a pain in the %$#, too; either out of scale, too high, too far forward, etc.

Thank you Ian . I think I'll get some more of that empty laminated envelope for future builds . Okay, the bird is now ready for priming . Must remember that there is a very sharply pointed brass pitot tube at the front .

Yep! I was looking at some photos of USN F-5 Aggessors and they have it there, too. That's interesting! Definitely can be prickly during the painting phase.😂😂

That pitot is a little rascal ready to get knocked off, I'd complete it with such a red thingie to make sure I notice it permanently during finishing.
