I continued to make some progress on the FB-111. I got the flaps and slats mounted which were all kind of complex. And of course HobbyBoss molded the holes for the flap actuators way under-sized so I had to drill new ones with a pin vise to get the flaps mounted correctly. I got the Scale Aircraft Aircraft Conversions gear installed and it is definitely hefty enough to support the plane. I then started the weathering on the undersides and added fluid leaks and stains using Burnt Umber, Raw Umber and Ivory Black Oils. I also added some bare metal areas on the slat/flap actuators with Vallejo Silver. Almost ready for the gloss coat and decals.

Minor update on the FB-111. I got the speed brake assembly completed and weathered and it is ready to be installed. I also got the primer on the burner cans and the boat-tail assembly so they will be ready for an application of various Vallejo metal colors.

Thanks for stopping in gents! I got a few hours in on the FB-111A this weekend. The front office is essentially finished. I added some belts to the seats and these were made from tape along with some PE and sheet stock details. Underneath, I installed the speed-brake and added the nose gear doors. I also had to scratch build the door assembly for the front end of the bomb bay using both HobbyBoss and Zhengfu parts. I saw in a reference photo where a SAC ground crew had written "SAC Bombers Rule" on the inside of one of the bomb bay doors so I decided to do that for this build and I drew that on, along with a mushroom cloud, with an .03 Micron Pen. I started to make intake covers as well so I used the scrap intakes from the Hobbycraft/Zhengfu F-111 as a template. I have just a few more details to clean up and then it will be ready for a gloss coat and some decals.

Thanks everyone! A little activity on the bomb bay going on. I got the front piece mounted to the forward edge of the bomb bay area but I still have a little filling to do. There will be two small doors added to this that fold into the bay itself. I will leave off the main doors until the very end because I will probably break them off during decaling. Stay tuned--------
