Ian, you are right: This model's original configuration was supposed to depict the French prototype and thus did not have any active service markings. You can see it on the box top. The Aussies picked it up and ran with it and that is why mine has active service markings for the Australian army on it. That being said, you have done an outstanding job on this bird and it's looking fantastic; far better than mine.

I'm looking forward to seeing more.

I finished the Eurocopter this weekend and in all fairness to HobbyBoss this was actually a really nice kit. All the sub-assemblies were attached and then model was given a flat coat of Testors Dull-Cote thinned with Metalizer Thinner. Photos of the actual helos showed the roof mounted sight was turned inwards when on the ground alot of times (probably to protect the optics) so I positioned it facing the engine housing. I drilled out the gun barrel and painted the entire assembly with Vallejo Gun Metal and then added it to the chin. I made a Tarmac base out of sheet stock which I scribed and then painted with Testors Armor Sand. This was then post shaded and glued to a base I had laying around. So, its done and off to the shelf.
