Thanks for all the comments, gents! I worked on the left side of the Octo Tiger and all the cage armor was mounted on that side. I kept the mounts pretty haphazard and asymmetrical to depict wear and tear and metal that is pretty banged up and bent. You'll notice that there is a section missing completely on the right side and I think my plan there is to mount a side skirt section from either a Pz IV or Panther to depict a rapid field mod as if the original cage armor piece had been completely blown off or ripped off in combat and another piece of armor got slapped on in in it's place. Almost done, as I just have to do some more pigment work and get the tow cables on. Regards, Ian

Morning Ian, Excellent work with this unusual beast. The shields are a great touch, really nicely weathered too. I sometimes think the “what if’ vehicles are more appealing, want to make up an E-100 One day. Top stuff mate

Boots, Si: Thanks, gents! Si, I agree as I love the E-100 too. I have the E-100 Jagdpanzer in the stack from Amusing Hobby and I think the Tiger II has been a good practice run for some techniques I can use on the E-100. So, there is a piece of cage armor missing from the right side and I am going to depict the tank with a piece of add-on armor in it's place where the cage armor used to be before it was blown off or ripped off in combat. It will appear as if the side skirt armor was installed there in the field to ward off Russian infantry and their new Panzerfaust copies. I decided to go with a piece of side skirt from a Pz. IV so using the Tamiya kit as a template, I made the piece out of sheet stock. I bent it up a little and also put some shrapnel holes in it as well. Next I have to fabricate some type of field mount. Regards, Ian

Thanks, Marco! I just looked back on the thread and this thing has been going on for a year. So I got the makeshift armor piece painted for the right side of the tank. This will be a piece of Pz IV sideskirt that will be mounted where one of the bedsprings got blown off. I am going to add yellow spots to the side skirt piece as a I saw a picture of a very late war Pz IV Ausf J in overall Red Brown with large yellow spots. I scratch built a Pz IV style mounting bracket and this will be cemented to the side of the hull and the skirt will just hang from it. Regards, Ian

It's those little details that make a big difference and you're really making that happen.
