I got the decals on the Buffalo. Most of them came from the Aeromaster "Buffalos Over Southeast Asia" sheet but I liked Tamiyas rendering of the Warthog nose art better so that came from the kit sheet. The plane depicted is B-3110 flown by Kapt. Jacob Van Helsdingen, a Dutch Buffalo pilot who was twice decorated for his actions in the Java Campaign including shooting down a Zero and a Ki-27 which is no small feat in a Buffalo. Unfortunately Van Helsdingen was shot down and killed on his 35th birthday, by a Zero. After the decals were on, I added some oil streaks and leaks to the undersides and around the cowling area. I also depicted the bare metal areas by applying some Vallejo Aluminum with a sponge. After the decals cure up I will added the flat coat and wrap this one up.

Well, the Dutch Brewster Buffalo is done. I got the Squadron vacuform canopy pieces installed and they fit perfectly. I added the last sub-assemblies such as the tail wheel, spinning prop, pitot tube and antenna assembly. I used mono-filament for the horizontal wire and E-Z line for the semi-vertical line. The Buffalo was given a clear coat of Vallejo Matt Varnish and then the nav lights were painted. I also added some bullet hole patches made of lead foil squares on the left side of the fuselage. Finally, the plane was secured on the mount with a brass pin and secured with CA glue. The plane depicted is the A/C of Dutch pilot Kapt. Jacob van Helsdingen, a twice decorated Buffalo pilot who flew during the desperate Java Campaign in '42. Sadly, he lost his life in March of 1942 during an engagement with a Zero. Hope you like the build.
