That's some tidy PE work, how I miss rubber bands.

The detail looks awesome.

Almost finished the front armour section now with just some bolts to add. As you can see by extending the bin I can get two 5 gallon oil barrels in which was a common feature. The barrels do need some trimming though to fit. Lights and guards also on and here I didn't bother with drilling out the lenses as I'll cover them with putty or similar later to replicate hessian sacking.

Nice, and that is true that these, Chieftains and Chally 1 always carried a can of OM80 and OEP220.

Thanks guys glad you like it. More done today with the tool holder sorted, nore camo pole supports added and the driver's hatch detailed & fitted. This evening I've added the wheels & tracks before tackling the side armour. This has gone on now before paint because I've altered the armour slightly by moving them forward. This ment cutting off the locating tabs and a few more adjustments so a good strong bond was called for. 

I've also removed the hull bin on the drivers side after discovering that they where sometimes taken off and relocated to the side of the vehicle, probably because with the side armour on you couldn't open the bin! So a bit more work to do on the hull before moving to the turret.

Well another update today and some turret work. First up was the rear basket, the top of it should be flush with the turret roof. However if you drop the basket it fowls the two periscopes behind the turret and the vent to the side. The other solution is to reduce the width of the basket, however if you do this the basket then looks well off and undersized. Trust me I used some paper templates to try it and it looked horrible! So it will have to stay as is. I have a bit more work on the basket too.




Next I moved onto the sights, I decided to have a go at making better ones, the pic below shows the kit item between my two scratched ones. Using this as a guide and the armoured cover too I came up with a pretty good sight I think. Later I'll use thin clear plastic to add the glazing so you can actually see the optics.

Cheers chaps, today has been turret day and I've almost finished apart from adding new Clansman antenna mounts and the coax MG. Oh and of course sorting out a mount for a milan on the commanders side of the turret.
