Paul, Marco, Pete and Ian, Thanks for your comments, much appreciated. Started on the exterior detailing and oddments. Hatches that will be open only dry fitted so that I can get the exterior colours on when ready. Also been beefing up the 2 BV's that will reside on the inside of the rear door. I have had a few problems, but under a coat of paint they will not, I hope, detract from the overall effect. This is where I am after todays efforts. More soon. Tim

NATO Green to be accurate. Used MigAmmo, straight from the bottle at lower pressure than my normal. Quite pleased with the coverage, no runs etc or pooling. However, as is common with the majority of my spraying, it is grainy. Paint drying before hitting the surface? I think in general I am getting the hang of spraying but not sure about paint consistency and spraying distances. Also, to my mind, the paint seems to take an age to dry. Even now it feels tacky to the touch, so it is probably best that I am back at work tomorrow. Give it time to really cure. This be how it looks now. More soon. Tim

I like it Tim, you have done well with the Mig paint . I have used them before and just couldn't get the stuff to work for me . Anyway, it certainly looks like the vehicle I hated in army .

Looks good Tim a nice colour indeed. As for the grainy finish this can be from a few possibles. First spraying distance and the fact the paint could be drying before hitting the model. I would recommend before any spray session testing the paint on a suitable surface like a piece of card or even an old model. That way you can find the best distance for spraying. Also a paint retarder will really help stop the paint drying on the tip and in transit to the model. Next it could be that the paint needs thinning which is a tricky thing to get right. Spraying a paint that's too thick will result in a grainy finish, spraying a paint that's too thin will do the same as it drys before getting to the surface. I thin my paints to the consistency of skimmed milk usually which works well and always use a paint retarder/flow improver.
Lastly pressure will also have an effect, I usually spray between 15 & 20 psi which is more than enough for acrylics. Once you find a system and method for spraying it does get easier but as with anything a bit of practice really helps.

Looks great! I use Vidrex as a retarder. Some times the MIG Thinner. Both works well.

Pretty much the same as Pete but i don`t use flow improver with the Tam paints........only the Vallejo Model Air i use the improver with and thin it as Pete mentioned.

Paul, I thought I had heard a little of your views on the 432, so not sure if mine reminding you of your dislike is a good or bad thing. Might take it as good Pete & Marco,
Thanks for the input. Was spraying between 15\20psi so good there. I have retarder, so should have tried with that. Paint itself straight from the bottle is thin, but again might need to look into that aspect. Also need to test spray.
Ian, Glad you like.
No more done today. Paint seems to have gone off nicely, so put it on its wheels for a quick photo shoot. The unpainted ones will be in Warm Sand Yellow when I get to applying that, which should be the weekend. More as and when. Tim
