Looking good Guy. He certainly does look like the King. With the other two figures added, it will be An American Trilogy.

Thanks guys! I brushed the third figure today but it's too wet and shiny at the mo. Hopefully it will be all done by this weekend as I want to keep going with the paratrooper bust which I got from a deceased friend of mine, Mark. He would have loved the style of this house and its members. He was a barely one year retired policeman and died from cancer. This bust is very important to me and I'm glad to have a platform like this one to paint it.

We seem to be losing friends all over Guy, sad times these be. looking foward to the bust you have, I am sure you friend would be pleased with you for doing this. Paul brotha, he was simply addicted to modelling. He had this big garden house in the back yard and it was literally stuffed with countless kits, Evergreen stuff, am sets, all kinds of paint... Another friend of mine (Erik) and myself helped his wife to sell everything and it gave us deep sad feelings but she could use the money we got from it. As she's a lovely person she insisted to give me two busts in 1/12 scale and a Tamiya Sherman kit with all possible am parts. I'll be happy to build it here and dedicate it to him as well. Small anecdote from two years back in time : I have my finished models displayed in Ikea glass cases. They stood in my hobbyroom on the 2nd floor, next to the stairs. We were sitting in the living room having a cup of coffee/pint of beer and suddenly we heard something explode as if somebody threw a hand grenade somewhere upstairs so I ran to the hall and when I got there it was still raining glass... It was nothing but surreel and I almost sh... my pants! Finally I got my danglers together and went upstairs to see what just happened and believe me, one side of such an Ikea case was shattered in thousands of pieces. Now comes the spooky part...Not one single model was damaged! A photo of Mark was placed between my models an dioramas and since then I like to believe that Mark protected my models. End of modelling ghost story.

A grand tale Guy, and you are most probably right regarding the guardian angel

Thanks Paul, I think I had so much luck that day to be honest. The BAR gunner's M43 combat jacket and pants was given more colour variation and fingers crossed so I can finish him a bit more tomorrow... This little fella will add some more colour to the diorama as there's a lot of grey involved.

Fine work as ever on the figure mate, as for the bust it will certainly be a fitting tribute to your friend, especially in your hands.

Hey guys here's today's update on the third figure. Tomorrow it's the deepest shadows and highlights, light weathering and detail fiddlifications (folds, helmet metal seam, net...) Can't resist doing this, a b/w photo of the figure.

Paul brotha I found a couple of images of the same figure, painted with acrylics by an incredible hawkeyed artist... man I feel so small when I look at them. I mean...look at this! ... Yep... Small is the right word to express how I feel. The tiny folds and wrinkles aren't even there on the figure, he blurdy painted them like in 3D or something.

If you feel small then what should I say . He does look rather stunning.

Guybro.....myself and the fellas on here know darn well you are one of the best figure painters by a country mile and besides......he ain`t finished yet....and...you are creating a scene with multiple subjects which requires a far ranging challenge than a solitary figure, i`ve done exactly the same and stumbled across a build the same as i`m doing at the time and it suddenly blows me away........and ya think........WTF!!!, a prime example for me was the sand bag Sherman......i thought i was doing ok until a found a similar one and deflation on mine set in.....as much as i tried i just could not get certain things to look like his.......turned out he was one of the top builders and i dare say he had all the items needed provided for him and probably built for mags and maybe even sponsored, unlike me and you that have to buy everything and go to work, the fella who painted the bottom one probably had all the hours in the day to just get everything spottus bolokus while me and you were grafting..........`comparison` is a word of the devil He looks superlicious brother Guy so keep it comin` mucker

Awesome work Guy, I wish I could paint figures with oils like you do. The other one painted in acrylics is awesome but I bet it took bloody ages to do, loads of glazes etc to achieve that result.

Thank you Pete, this coming from a top modeler like you means a lot to me. You might be right on the acrylic painted figure, it looks 100% bloody awesome but it's a stand alone figure so he didn't have to worry about a diorama with other figures and a vehicle. Imagine if he did with his 'interstellar microscope'. He'd be dead before he finished it... But what a fantastic unfinished diorama that would be!!!!!
