After finally finishing group build IJN Kagero, I decided to try out another Japanese beauty IJN "Tone". It would have been great to build it with Very Fire's substantial PE set, but the purchase price was well above my limits. Had to be content with Eduard's PE parts plus some additional brass ware.
So here we go:

Looking forward to this one and a fantastic start! Lots of history with the IJN Tone-----like her wayward floatplane screwing up the entire Battle of Midway.

Nice You don't see much preshade on ship builds so it'll be interesting to see how this looks when you're done.

Sorry guys, it has been a while...
Some progress, however. Had to fix the Tamiya error with the aft part of the catapult deck. Made the so called "safe boxes" (assume plane fuel etc.) from styrene sheets. Added also some additional port holes, doors and left over torpedo rails. These are hardly visible, but adds some detail.

Painted the hull and added some weathering, both under & above waterline. Tried to create rather worn out apperance, but did not succeed to to get what I wanted.
Noticed also (of course, after painting the deck!) that I had forgotten to remove the boat supports which are to be replaced with PE parts from Tamiya WWII Japanese Navy Utility Boat Set. Te set has excellent templates for drilling the necessary holes for the supports.
And as usual, work with painfully small PE parts continuos (eg. roughly 50 ammunition boxes etc.).
