Finally, it is finished!
This was a exhausting project but I guess that is the only way to reach some kind of quality level. Most of the time it was fun (almost), but for some reason I struggled with the rig. I tried several different products (AK interactive, threads for fly fishing etc.) but nothing seem to work well. Well, as before, more practise... Overall, I am pretty happy with the end result, but I still need to improve the "cleanliness" (glue marks, accurate joints etc.). This one and the previous IJN "Kagero" will be presented in Lahtis Model Show the 2nd of Sept. Interesting to hear what kind of feedback will one get...
I had already decided to stick with these ship models, but after this 4th model, I think I need something "lighter". I am checking if I could find a nice car model in order to participate the Group build "Movie Stars". I just saw on TV the movie "Ford v. Ferrari" (Le Mans 66) and was really excited by the story of great Ken Miles. So, probably it will be Ford GT40...
But, here are the final photos (or actually during photoshooting, I noticed that one of the rope ladders had disappeared, so will have to fix that. Carpet monster strikes again!):

Kari, you should be very proud of that one my friend Your practicing is paying off very well indeed, this is the proof of that. Well done indeed and a change of theme will be a good break for you too The Movie Stars GB is actually over, but I am sure we can bend the rules a tad and let you take part with a late entry . If anyone disagrees Boots, Jeff, Ian and myself will sort them out

And I really need a break from these "bloody" ships before I can tackle the mighty "Musashi"...

That is just fantastic work indeed.........a long journey it might have been but a worthwhile one for sure, the detail and weathering is superb
Doesn`t look like i`ll be building a ship anytime soon..........not after seeing that
As for the GT40......i`m 99% done on my MENG 1966 1.25th kit, for your info Mission Models do the correct paint for that vehicle.....it`s called Arcadian Blue and it was the colour Shelby insisted be used on his Mustangs...........there is a good You Tube walkaround of Ken Miles car, the family loaned it to the Shelby museum at the time and thats where the orator mentions the colour.

What a stunning build and probably one of the best IJN cruisers I have ever seen! The weathering you did on the hull is amazing, especially below the waterline. And then the work you did on the planes.....wow! They look like they could be 1/72 or 1/48th scale projects. Certainly a work of art to be proud of.

And thanks for the tips regarding GT40. I'll be checking those ones. Yeah, the video of the Shelby museum was very informative although I suspect that the car has been polished up for the show.

Truly impressive result ! It might have been a challenge to push over the line but she's a stunner.
Building something different and easier on the mind is just the right call too.

Yes....the GT did look rather clean and shiny i have to say , a nice example for reference..........i looked thru loads of stuff and a lot of it was replica GT40`s, i have to be honest and say Meng have done a nice job on the car, the only thing i will say is check the engine fit and driveshaft line up......that was the only little issue that caused me a prob further down the line, other than that she is a good kit...........the bigger one is quite expensive!!......Oh...and don`t bother trying to get those red headlight decals in place, i ended up cutting the decs out and made masks with tape and airbrushed them in.....that was still a bit tricky due to that gorgeous curve but looks so much better. I do have the build on here i think so i can throw you a link and you can judge for yourself if that helps..

Wow, she is already a beauty!
Thanks for the link, your tips will help me to avoid at least some of the mistakes. I noticed already that several others have commented those red decals are a nightmare, so probably will order some masks from www.indycals.net/decals/lemans/66gt40-1.html.
