Things are getting serious now by the looks of that lift! I'm sure you'll be back at the modelling bench once the restoration is completed Boots. Kit bashing takes more concentration than one might think! I deffo haven't got the mental capacity for both

Thanks Steve I reckon the resto is gonna take quite a while but the mojo has not been right for ages now if i`m honest Steve, it`s been so hit and miss and i`m just accumulating a shed load of shelf queens which is just a total waste of money.............especially at the price kits are nowdays.

Well i`ve done a bit more today mainly cleaning with Gunk de-greaser, the head set is now entirely empty and all parts clean, including brackets/linkage etc (although i will probably replace the linkage stuff anyway due to some slight wear/movement).............the downside of todays little venture is i`ve discovered the cast alu mag housing is cracked!! ............no real biggie just annoyance of having to buy somat i didn`t need to buy, i might be able to do some alu braising on it but being Mr picky i`ll probably out it, i reckon it`s been dropped at some point.

i had to replace the mag housing on my SX, seems to be a problem. These scoots were never intended to be around after all these years, wont be the first hidden expense mate!!!

............not short of a few unhidden expenses either I`ve priced up a new mag housing and they`re not too bad..........would rather have invested it into somat else tho

Oh well.................looks like a cheap welding machine is required now!! Ok a brief update for any interested party........pretty much down to basics now, all cables, electrics, carb and a few other nik-naks removed so she is looking pretty sparce now, all thats left to do is drop the forks out (when me tools arrive ) and then drop the engine out. Photo`s for any one interested..
The only wires left are from the stator plate which is inside the broken magneto housing i was talking about, to get that off..............guess what!!............i need a special tool

Might have to include upwards and backwards in the mix

A welder is something I could have done with, but a guy a few doors along did the job. The body was cracked between those 4 large hoes above the tail light, behind the seat. They had a rack which was loose causing the problem.also the footboards were cracked and that was tricky to weld cos it is very thin........oh and the front mudguard was cracked...... and.......only kidding no more welds.😁

LOL I need to replace the floorboard strut that holds the stand, it`s well pi$$ed!!, i`ve found a replacement off of E Bay.........i`ve spent most of the afternoon checking frame alignment as i thought i was gonna have some frame issues..............thankfully all seems ok in thats dept but there is a slight crack where it attaches to the tubular frame, the only option is to cut it away and weld in a new one..............to be honest the front two singular struts are wonky as well but if i re-align the new one that will give me a guide to straighten them.................should be fun as i`ve never welded before ............i`m willing to try anything so live and learn
