Chaps, I appreciate your words muchly, thank you indeed . Eric, good to see you back ole chap . Right then, today was filled with disappointments . As you will probably remember, I wanted to use the Verlinden resin Firefly turret. Well that idea has gone out of the window. You need to add certain kits parts to that turret, and none will fit. The cupola from Dragon didn't fit first, then I thought I'll an Italeri one.... didn't fit either. Finally I tried a Tamiya cupola, bugger that doesn't fit either. The finally summary is, the Verlinden turret is so old, that it has shrunk . So basically it's of no use whatsoever. Armorguy : you should check the turret you have, it might have suffered the same thing. Next up I checked the alignment of the sprocket to the running gear.... bollox, that doesn't line up either . Knowing that I have a shed load of left over parts from Tamiya and Italeri Shermans, I tried a Tamiya sprocket... thank gawd for that, they work, not pefectly but better than Dragons shyte. I then moved onto the Dragon turret . To get the mantlet to fit correctly, you have to add 0.5x2mm profile strips to support the part. If not, the mantlet drops into the turret shell by half a millimeter . The welded radio box on the turret rear also doesn't like it's attachment points, if you don't correct that, the thing sits lopsided to the right . Anyway enough whinging, here's some pics of something slightly Firefly like.

Cheers muchly Boots ole chap . I don't know how this is going to end.... at the moment it's closer to the Brick of Doom than anything else. I ordered some some AM tracks for it last week, guess what, the package was damaged during transport and needs repacking. Modellbau König have jumped in and are trying to find out what has happened to them, or where the package now is. But they have been told by DHL, that the investigation can take up to 8 weeks. MBK can't give me a replacement until they know what's going on. Seams to me like there is a curse on this one . I might even take this one to church tomorrow and get it exorcised

Paul, you have done excellent work getting it to this point. Their Firefly series is definitely the most challenging in their line. I had most of the same problems with the Ic version.

Paul the model doesn't show you had to solve this many issues, it looks mighty good to me. I have one from Asuka, and once the Hellcat's finished I just might start building it. Keep those updates coming.

Well it’s giving you a fight and certainly above my level of perseverance and it would have been back in the box already for me, well technically there would be no box for it go back in as I’m really wary of Dragon kits where they taken a base kit and the added some more sprues to make a variant.

Great work so far Paul, looks to be a bit of a pig fit wise?
Are you building the exact kit pictured on the first page?

Cheers muchly chaps, you encouragement is helping me keeping this on the bench . Si that is indeed the kit I'm tackling, it is a pigs ear indeed fit-wise. I shall not be using the specific markings which come with the kit, I'll be making a generic version, which will allow me a bit of artistic licence

Only reason I was asking was because i built and blogged the same kit a few years ago on the now kaput MM forum…. but don’t recall the fit issues your having?
Im sure I still have some build pictures somewhere….I’ll have to see if I can find them.

It's amazing what a bit of after market can do for the mojo . I received the cupola about an hour ago, it has been removed from its carrier and dry fitted to the turret . These 3D prints have hundreds of little carrier points, nothing to worry about though, that is why the detail is so high and also, with a sharp blade they're easy to remove . While I was nibbling away at the attachments, I had a weird and possibly stupid idea . I'll keep the longer ones for spent ammo cases later , just got to work out how to paint them . Anyway, here's the parts separated from the carrying frames . Still need a little more cleaning here and there. Dry fit in the turret, and I mean dry fit. Even the hatches just drop into place without glue .
