Thanks for stopping in on the thread, Styrene Smashers! So, I joined the two sections of the ESCI Viggen after adding the sheet stock fuselage plug I made to depict the JA version. The fit was actually really good so I guess the Tomatin Single Malt did not affect my cuts for the surgery. Just a little clean-up with putty and Mr. Surfacer will be required to blend in the plug. Although an old kit, I am still happy with the overall shape and dimensions of the ESCI offering so far. Anyway, stay tuned gang! Regards, Ian

I put some work in on the Viggen this weekend. I was having an issue finding reference material and I actually found a Viggen Walk Around book I got from Squadron as a free gift with an order a couple of years ago so this has been a huge help. This build has been really fun and even though it is forty plus years old (and cut in half with a fuselage plug to boot) it has been far less of a headache than that HobbyBoss monstrosity of an F-111. I added the tail to the fuselage and it fit fine on the spine. The kit also provides you with the shorter tail for the AJ version if you wanted to build the ground attack version. I am still sanding on the spine and joint where the plug is but everything is getting smoothed out. I shaved off the nav lights and antenna so I could sand and marked 'em with a Sharpie so I can put them back on later. Stay tuned! Regards, Ian

Trying to keep my assembly line as efficient as the rest of you gents in these threads. I got the wings installed on the JA-37 Viggen and the fit was just about perfect. I just had to sand down the fuselage plug slightly to make it flush with the wing root on the belly but that was my doing, not the kit. There were small sink marks on the wings but those were filled with Tamiya putty. The massive Oerlikon gun pod was installed and that was great in that it covers up most of the belly seam. The instructions called out the wrong type of speed brake on the undersides, however. The directions called out the solid speed brakes whereas the photos indicated the JAs had the perforated ones. I pulled out the solid brakes and then reinstalled the perforated ones which come with the kit. I have a little more blending to do around the fuselage plug and then it will be primer time. Best wishes, Ian
