I was a bit gutted you covered all that superb paving but the debris look awesome! Will have to get myself some of the VMS fixer next time I’m shopping

That is looking very ver good!!! I have a question on that VMS sand and ballast freeze, what is the difference to using PVA? I used PVA on my LAV thing to set the stones to the groundwork, does that VMS stuff add something extra? Because than it might be worth getting it, seeing as I will be adding a lot of sand and stones to my IDF thing.. It's a great product. It's a clear liquid ashesive, which I would hazard a guess has Isopropyl Acohol in it. That's what makes it easy to spread and absorb into pigment powders and ruble components. I would highly recommend it over a PVA mixture. Mind you if you have a very large base then PVA might be the more cost-effective way.

Coming along nicely Mark. You are now forgiven for covering up the lovely cobbles. Thanks TG, it was always a risk, but I'm pretty with how it's progessing.

I've just about runout so i've just ordered more. You used to be able to buy it in 200ml bottles, but now it's only 50mm ones

Evening All, it's been a crappy old wet day so lots of time to model in between watching some wet Sunday afternoon movies. Today I did some more work on the base and continued to build up the layers of ruble and debris. The gun cruciform and bogie carriages and the church shell were added to check the visual balance. Still lots to do, so here's some pics of the progress.
Tomorrow (Monday) is a national holiday, so more modelling time Until next time Cheers Mark

Looking excellent, like the mix of debris. You can see the image? It's not showing up in the post at my end so I wasn't sure it was working.

I'm lovin' this even more . Mark, the image uploader has an attitude problem now and again. It'll settle down soon and you'll be able to see everything normally.

Mind you if you have a very large base then PVA might be the more cost-effective way. It's a good thing I don't do large bases , wonder how many of those 50ml bottles I would need for 100x50 cm.. I just love the debris, it is super reallistic, that part that looks like a broken chair, could also be some metal from the gate, it is fantastic!!! I even thought I saw some filter cigarette butts, but after a second look they are probably bricks...

Hello fellow modellers, hope you are / had a great weekend. The weather has been miserable this weekend as we've borne the brunt of the tail end of a cyclone that headed down from Fiji. The humidity has been awful and is not really great for paint to dry. Anyway I did get some work done in between chores etc. First up I started on the gun crew figures, They were primed with Alclad black microfiller primer. The figures will make the dio, but frig, they are going to be a pain to paint. In hindisght I wouid have painted all of the torsos and limbs serperately before fitting. But of course in reality that wouldn't work as there was a bit of filling required. The figures have German Field Grey uniforms with the Splintermuster camo poncho/smocks over the top. To make life easier i'm using the AK 3G Splintermuster set. The first step was to put a base coat of the sand colour down on the smock. Then on to a base coat of the uniform (using the Vallejo uniform colour set). Then it was a base coat of all leather items. For the next step I am glad that I invested in a glasses headset with interchangable magnification lenses. It was on to the painting of the splintermunter camo. I downloaded some images off T'internet and used them as a reference. With all of the folds in the smock/poncho it was a complete bleeping nightmare. I decided that i'd thin the paint quite a bit, so once it gets a wash it will look old, dirty and faded. I got there in the end, only 4 more to go!!!!! I guess the first one is always the hardest as you're finding you way. Anyway, the blurb has finished, here's some pics. Not the best lighting unfortunately. I also managed to get to get a little bit more done on the base. I managed to extend the sculptamold around the side of the church ruin, glue the wall in place and set down the start of the rubble base. Not a heck of a lot to describe, so here's the pics. That's all for now, until next time. Cheers Mark

You can blurb as much as you wish Mark, I like reading fella it . The dude is looking good and that was a good idea with the thinned paint, it should work excellently later. The base isn't too shabby either

Your base looks like a mess, so that is exactly as planned I guess And I love your figure, great colors! Nice bit of detailing and folds, so will be nice to add shadows, those gloves are fantastic as well! And if everything fails, just give him a sword in his left hand, some other colors and a suiting helmet and you can use him as the ghost of a Teutonic knight

The camo smock looks amazing and incredible realism with the groundwork. I just bought one of those jeweler magnifiers with the 16 interchangeable lenses, too. Really like it, so far.

Inspiring stuff Mark! Dio’s really bring things to life, especially when they have as much detail as this one

Hello all, managed to get a good day of modelling in and happy with progress. The focus was on completing the first figure. it's about 90% there, but no pics sorry. Hopefully finish it tomorrow and i'll stick some up then. The rest of the time was spent on the church ruin. During the week I'd primed it using Alclad black microfiller primer. Then I used a mixed pallette of greys and brown on the individual blocks. This is the end result. This was followed by a good coating of acrylic black wash across the whole structure. Once dried I followed it up with a drybrush of a darkish grey, followed by a mid-grey tone drybrush. It will be followed off tomorrow with a light drybrusing of white. Then I thought, why not have a quick mock up with the church and the flak gun base. It's really all coming together nicely now and it will be good to see this one finished. I wish you all a great weekend of modelling, Until next time...... Cheers Mark
