Morning / Evening All As mentioned a couple of weeks ago, I've started on the dio for the 88. The premise is the defense of the Rhineland in February 1945. The Allies are approaching fast and it's a last ditch effort to stop them on their march to Berlin. Unfortunately I have been so focused on it I forgot to document the progress so these are the first pics. I am depicting a urban fighting zone with lots of destruction and rubble. The base structure is made from closed cell XPS foam. it has been carved and shaped and suitably beaten up. Here's some pics. Until next time. Cheers Mark

Holy moly Mark that is some superb groundwork mucker...........another masterpiece in the making Cheers Boots. The process is time consuming and you end up going into a trance with all of the lines. but it's worth it. The foam is really malleable and easy to to create wear an tear using a stippling brush, blunt toothpick and clay sculpting tools. When done it was given a coat of diluted PVA to seal and harden the surface.

I'ld say this could do with a nice halftrack parked in the background behind the 88 it used to pull...

Hello All A quick update from yesterdays work. I used balsa wood for the side pieces on the dio base. Once the glue had dried I applied a black acrylic wood putty to the surfaces and let it harden off. This morning I sanded them back and then did the odd spot treatment and polished up to a 2000 grit to get a nice smooth finish for the Alclad black micro filler primer coats. Then it will receive 2 coats of Alclad black gloss, followed by Alclad semi- satin clear coats. Until next time. Cheers Mark

Just a qick update tonight. The sides of the dio were primed, top coated and sealed. It was left overnight and has come up a treat. Time for colour coming up next. Cheers Mark
