I think it is time to start a new plane project so I decided to build one of these Darth Vader planes. This is the dreaded FW-190A-8/R-2 Sturmbock bomber killer variant from Revell. I have several aftermarket items for the plane; Eduard Look Instrument Panel and seat harnesses, Eagle Editions resin weighted prop and Eagle Editions Decals. Sadly, Jerry Crandall from Eagle Editions passed away back in June from Covid complications. Jerry was a great artist, historian and author and possessed enormous knowledge about the air war over Europe so his was a huge loss to the modeling and historical community. However, I think Judy Crandall and the rest of the Eagle Editions team are going to keep the creatives fire lit. I will be building Hptm. Willi Moritz' black-nose FW-190 from JG.3. Like Paul B's Jagdpanther on the ground, I always thought the -190 was probably one of the most menacing looking prop fighters in WW2.

Oh wow, a butcher bird in 1/32 . I agree about how this thing looks, it has that "I will get you and you will regret it" look about it . Very nice additions you have collected there also Ian, the prop alone looks fantastic. Shame about Jerry Crandall passing on, I hope that the Eagle Editions team keep running the shop though.

oh wow, Ian does another one, and my favourite German bird: the FW190 (though actually, my number one German bird is the Ta152, which is a longer 190 really, isn't it? ). I'm really looking forward to this, and 1/32...blimey, one can go nuts on this. I'll put my share on the front row ^^

I started work on the FW-190 tub and after priming I applied some Vallejo RLM66 and then did some post shading with some Vallejo Gunship Grey FS36118. I then added the kit decals to the side consoles. Seat, instrument panel and cockpit weathering are next. Revell also did a nice job with molding on the exterior side armor plate for the Sturmbock version.
